ten minute makeup routine, makeup look, mac blush, too faced mascara, sephora, colourpop ultra matte,

Every girl that does her makeup needs to have an ” I can’t leave my face bare but I don’t have enough time for full glam routine” or in other words something that takes less than 10 minutes to do. I think any good routine starts with great healthy skin. If you want to be able to leave the house in a hurry you need a good base to work with.

When Im in a rush the first step I skip is applying foundation; simply because I’ve taken care of my skin that I dont actually need foundation. I head straight for my fit me concealer since its creamy, blendable and the most natural looking out of my collectionI try to stay away from anything that is too light because it takes more time for me blend out.

Next up are my eyebrows, which I spend all of a half of a second on. I was blessed with great eyebrows, shout-out to my mom for that one, and so I usually only need a quick run through with my spoolie and I’m done. If I had more time I would do my full brow routine but since this is all supposed to be under 10 minutes I like to focus my attention on more pressing things.

The only thing I do with my eyes is apply mascara, two to be exact. I’m still learning how to work with eyeshadow and it’s not something I have time to play with when I’m in a rush. Sometimes I apply eyeliner but for the most part, I stick with just the mascara.

Now comes the easy part, applying blush and highlighting. My favorite everyday blush is raizen by Mac and I reach for it whenever I’m short on time. It looks great on my skin, and it’s extremely buildable so I never have to worry about adding too much and then being stuck with having to fix all the extra blush on my face. My go to highighter is the cream version of Becca Opal. It is such a pretty color and it has the just the right amount of shine to give you a natural glow. I like using the cream because it sets into my skin easily and I dont have to worry about getting powdery glitter all over my face.

To warm up my face a bit I use my mac blush in blunt. I prefer my cream contour kit by ABH but it requres me to use mutiple brushes and takes a while to blend properly. I apply mac blunt on the hollows of my cheeks, my forehead and under my chin. After that I apply a lipstick (my current favorites are the ultra matte lips by colourpop) and I’m all set to go!

Which products do you use for your quick everyday makeup routine?

Fall or dare I say the W word….winter… is my favorite time of year. We don’t really get a “W” in SF (although they say we are had an El Nino) but it does get pretty chilly and we get a few drops of rain   despite California’s ridiculously long drought. As beautiful as it is and as cozy as I dress, I realize that rain can often make you smell a little…muggy. I take my showers at night, so in the morning, I usually rely on my signature oils, which I’m now finding out are a more summa time thing. So I wanted to buy a new fragrance, something I could wear in winter that would add freshness, and that could also transition to spring!

marc jacobs, daisy, fragrence, perfume,

I’m a research fanatic and normally my first line of defense is youtube but since you can’t “smell” a fragrance through the computer I decided to just skip that step and head straight to Sephora. Talk about overwhelming! That wall of fragrance feels endless for a new buyer like me. I had no loyalties to a particular brand, and reviews didn’t really help much so I was flying blind. Luckily the scent section at my local Sephora is usually the least populated and was able to get an associate to help me.

I was finally able to narrow it down, between two marc jacobs fragrances. The sales associate had me spray both fragrances on (one on each arm and then walk around the store for 15 minutes). Since fragrances smell differently based on your body chemistry she wanted to make sure whichever one I got would actually smell good on me, not just out the bottlr. I loved both of them but I wanted something that would look good on my mantel (yep I bought it for the packaging) so I went with Daisy for its pretty white flowers. Despite its adorable packaging it is a very beautiful fragrance. It’s light and airy, with just the right amount of sweet and it is exactly what I need to smell refreshing in the morning.

marc jacobs, daisy, fragrence, perfume,

I’ll probably have this for a while, but I’m already looking to buy the other Marc Jacobs fragrance. I love the daisy but its light airy scent has very minimal lasting power. I’m realizing that cooler fragrances don’t gel well with my chemistry so I’ve had to start exploring warmer scents.

I promised you all a part two of my beauty haul so here it is! You can find part one here!

Hair

I have a serious issue with dry itchy scalp and I’ve been doing everything to try to fix it. My skin is deathly dry and my hair is no exception. Thank God my hair is thick and healthy and continually grows but the flaky dry scalp is such a nuisance that something had to be done.

beauty haul part one

It’s a 10 Leave in conditioner: My hair needs lots of moisture, so a leave-in conditioner is a must. I spray this in my hair after a wash and in between the week when needed.

Macadamia Conditioning Masque: I bought a small sample of this (which unfortunately I threw away) but so far it’s been working good. A conditioning masque is a lot thicker than a normal conditioner. My goal is to set up a deep conditioning routine but for now, I’m going to wait to see how this masque treats me.

Tresemme Hair Spray: just your typical hair spray, nothing special here other than I don’t have any hair spray and this one came highly requested from one of my favorite Youtubers.

Skincare

Nivea Men’s AfterShave: This was one of those purchases where Youtube made me do it. I’ve heard rave reviews about using this as a primer, so I’m excited to see how it goes. Plus it was only 6 bucks! Score!

beauty haul part three

Glamglow Hydrating Mask: This entire brand has been on my radar to try and since the weather has been deathly chilly I figured the hydrating mask was a good place to start. I bought the sample size for a whopping $22, so I’m hoping the results are worth its hefty price tag.

Aveeno Daily Face Scrub: I love the concept of a 3 step facial cleanser (like this clinique system I tried), but I realized a harsh product like that causes me to break out. My skin is extremely dry so when I strip it of its natural oils on a daily basis it creates utter chaos! I wanted to get the glamglow daily cleanser but I didn’t want to jump into an expesnive product when my skin is so sensitve to scrubs/cleasners as is. I figured this would be a good and light enough to use a few days a week and then pair it with my hydrating mask.

Samples

Marc Jacobs came out with a new perfume called Decadence and it comes in the shape of a purse, so naturally I was tempted to sample it. I love my Marc Jacobs daisy but because of its light and airy scent it tends to not stick and wears off with hours. Decadence is a much warmer and stronget scent so I’m hoping this settles into my skin nicely and potentially lasts longer!

Chanel No 5 is such a classic brand and classic fragrance. It’s a more robust scent than what I’m used to but I’m eager to see if it lives up to the hype!

Today I have a haul for you all! I haven’t purchased anything beauty related in a while so I’m long overdue for a post like this. After my no buy I learned a lot about my spending habits. I have a tendency to purchase a million things at once, instead of building overtime.  I still buy quite a few things, but I’m certainly more rational with my spending. So with that said let’s dive into the haul shall we!?

Makeup

IMG_3232

Real Techniques Beauty Blender: I love my beauty blender but I’ve always wanted a more affordable option. I’m looking forward to using the flat side of this to help set my makeup!

Zote Laundry Detergent:  I didn’t want to pay for the actual BB cleaner so I shopped for a cheaper option. I saw a video using detergent and was plea surly surprised since other home remedies haven’t been working. Hopefully it makes my beauty blender as good as new.

Japonesque Makeup Brush Cleaner

I wanted a daily cleaner as well so I could use the brush multiple times in one sitting. I normally pick up the one from Sephora but I wanted to try something different.

Urban Decay De-slick Oil Control

I have the urban decay all nighter spray but wasnt very impressed.  I’m hoping this version will help keep my makeup on but also prevent oiliness.

ABH Brow Definer

I’m not a huge fan of doing my brows, butttt ever since I switched from glasses to contacts I’ve wanted to give my brows a little extra attention. One of the reasons why I never liked the brow wiz is because the pencil was so thin and I had to really push to apply the product. The brow definer is significantly thicker so I’m hoping that makes a difference.

Sacha Cosmetics Buttercup Setting Powder

I’ve heard a million and one things about this on youtube and I’ve honestly been putting off buying it for no valid reason other than laziness. I hate ordering beauty products online, I prefer to look at the product, touch and sample it first before I make the commitment to buying it. This will have be my 6th setting powder so I’m hoping it turns out to be my holy grail!

Samples

What’s a Sephora trip without samples!?

Dior Diorskin Forever & Ever Wear Extreme Perfection & Hold Makeup Base: I’m typically not a fan of super high-end makeup brands like Dior, but the lady recommended it because it applies like lotion instead of a thick paste (like most mattifying primers do). The $50 price tag makes me have high expectations so we shall see!

Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer

I normally don’t like using mattifying primers but I wanted to purchase one for my t-zone.

Cover FX Custom Infusion Drops (Hydration & Radiance): I have the Cover FX custom drops that are pure pigment which I mix with lotion to make foundation. I will have a full review of the foundation later, but I wanted to try mixing it with the infusion dropsI’m not sure what the real difference is between the hydration and radiance version are but I’ll be sure to come back and let you know!

Tarteist Gel Liner: I swear by my Stila waterproof eyeliner, but I’ve been on the hunt for something different. I wanted to give this a shot and I’ve been loving all my Tarte eye products so far so I hope this isn’t any different.

I was going to add all my skincare and hair products to this haul but I figured it would be a little overwhelming. I’ll be having uploading part two on Wednesday!

Have any of you tried the above products? Tweet me about them!

I’m glad I waited such a long time to do this review because I feel like now that the excitement and hype have subsided and I can really give you all a fair assessment. I got the apple watch back in September as a birthday gift, and I’ve had it attached to my wrist ever since. I’ve never been the type to buy something simply because it’s the latest and greatest, especially when it comes to technology, but the apple watch offered some really intriguing features.

apple watch, mac, watch, technology

Let me start off by saying I was not an apple fan. I typically like to root fo the underdog (Toshiba is my favourite) but since I have an iPhone it only makes sense that all my other devices are compatible. It may sound crazy that i don’t like apple considering I own 4 of their products (iPhone, two iPads, and now the apple watch) but at this point it just makes sense that all the devices are connected, especially for blogging.

The watch wasn’t a blog must-have but more of a business necessity. My new position at work requires me to be in a lot of meetings and I’m constantly running all over the building. I work with several different teams during the day and sometimes my mind can get a little scattered. I wanted something that could help keep me on track, almost like a new rendition of a beeper but on your wrist. I have the watch connected to my work email and calendar, and it sends me reminders for meetings and any upcoming activities. For blogging, I’ve been using it to send me a reminder to post something on Instagram (when working a full-time job you don’t have time for social media), or remind me to participate in a twitter chat when I can (I try to get in at least one during lunch). So reason number one why I love the apple watch: It helps me keep track of my time (no pun intended)

apple watch, mac, watch, technology, ipad, iphone plus

Reason number two: it’s stylish!. When I first saw the apple watch I thought it looked extremely masculine. The chrome and highlighter rubber bands had me completely turned off. But they recently came out with a rose gold color and newer stylish bands that made it more appealing, not to mention hat it matches my rose gold iPhone 6s plus.

Reason number three was something I sort of just stumbled on and that was its fitness features. I was always interested in getting a Fitbit, but when the apple watch came out I liked the ability to have both a phone and a fitness tool. Two for one right!? I use the built-in fitness app as well as the activity app to enter my weight height, etc and then my goals for the day. The activity app offers plenty of other great resources (tells you when to stand, how many calories you should burn a day), but I don’t go that in depth with it. I use the app to track my heart rate and burned calories during a workout.

apple watch, mac, watch, technology, fitness, health

Last but not least its literally a phone on your wrist. As a commuter, I like to make things as efficient as possible. In the mornings, I’m able to stick my phone in my backpack and I don’t have to worry about checking to see if I missed anything because it will all sync to my watch anyway. This is great for when I’m in meetings too because my phone will be in my pocket or purse and I don’t have to reach down to turn it off as well as see who’s calling and texting. Now that I have the iPhone 6splus (which is a clunker of a phone) it can be annoying to have it on hand all the time so the watch is definitely a convenience. I believe the radius of the watch is roughly 15 feet so you can be in another room and it will still pick up signal annnddd if you are disconnected from your phone the watch will tell you!

I know these reasons may not be stellar to some of you and maybe even a little high maintenance, but for a girl on the go, or a fitness lover I think this a great toy to have. The sport is definitely an affordable option and it has the most variety when it comes to the bands.

If you have any questions leave them below!
