When Instagram first came out I was not a fan. I didn’t (and still somewhat don’t) understand why I needed to take a photo of every little detail in my life. Snap a photo of my food, snap a photo of me eating the food…oh and don’t forget to tag where you’re eating and who you’re eating with. It’s a littlllleeeee much. As bloggers we walk the fine line of vanity; are we self-absorbed or are we just good at what we do? Nowadays the world is filled with bloggers who are talking about anything and everything and it’s hard to stand out. You really have to put yourself out there. One tweet a week or 3 photos on Instagram is not going to cut it, no matter how private of a person you may be. I, as well as many other beginning bloggers want my blog to be successful but my fear is that I won’t be able to compete on the level of my fellow bloggers. There is something just a tad too stalker-ish about posting my every moment on social media, and I feel like such a diva snapping 80 selfies, but since this is the world we live, best to embrace it and make each experience your own.
Since I can remember I have struggled with finding a good pair of shoes. As a kid my feet grew every minute so my parents never invested in anything expensive and by the time I could afford to buy a decent pair my feet had grown to a whopping size 11. I quickly realized that it was the one size that almost every store didn’t have. I was always jealous of all my friends that could go into forever 21 and buy some cute shoes for 15 bucks; meanwhile I was stuck in some department store spending 40 + for a pair of heels I knew I would only wear once. Well my lonesome hours in department stores and online shopping have taught me a few things about the shoe game. For starters, when you find a shoe in your size and you like it, buy it in every color! When you have a big shoe size you don’t necessarily have the luxury of variety. You have to learn to be creative with your styling so that it doesn’t look like you have 5 pairs of the same shoe. I recently purchased the Steve madden –gleee shoe in all three colors (see below) and I love them! My favorite part is that they are slim around the ankle and my foot doesn’t have that awkward gap between your ankle and the shoe. Since I wear a size 11 I’m always conscious of how big something looks on my feet so the more slimming and fitted the better! My top 3 colors are always Black, Brown, and Grey.
Black is classic, it’s a color you can never go wrong with. I usually wear my black boots when I’m wearing a print, or a wild color that I want to tone down. It’s also my quick go to when I don’t want to think about styling.
I normally don’t buy dark brown boots; I tend to stick to lighter shades like cognac. It’s a great option for when I want something different besides black. It goes with everything and it mixes well with deep fall colors. My favorite is pairing it with Burgundy or Forest green!
Grey is my ultimate favorite, especially this icy grey that has been trending for fall/holiday. I pair this with all my light wash denim, and especially my white jeans. Black can sometimes be too harsh, and the brown has to be a particular shade, but with grey it’s almost an effortless pairing. One thing I will say is that you have to be careful with the shape of grey shoes. Sometimes extra detailing like buckles or an added platform can look unflattering if not done properly.
Steve madden is always my go too for stylish shoes, Which store is your go too?
GLAMOUR: It was reported recently that you allotted yourself a “salary” of only about $50,000 in 2012. True?
KK: Yes, it’s something around that. I mean, if I want or need something that goes over that, I get it, but, yes, around that.
The first thing that comes to mind is do you realllllllyyy allow yourself 50,000 or do you have too because you aren’t an “A list” actress. I mean let’s face it; Keira Knightley is hardly a renowned household name. Unless you’re a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean or you happen to love all those “18th century” movies, she is a name and face that no one really remembers. I just so happen to be that fan that loves both of those movie genres (not to mention we practically have the same name), so I’ve grown to become fond of her, but the comment about her spending habits strikes me in a weird way.
On one hand I think that’s fantastic that she is money conscious; too many celebrities spend way beyond the necessary amount just because they have the money to burn. On the other hand I think how far does “if I need or want something” extend. If I want a 12 million dollar house do I buy it?, What about if I needddddd a vacation and It just so happens to cost 10,000 does that mean I live off top ramen and water for the rest of year to stay within my 50k budget? What does one do when they have the luxury of being ridiculously wealthy but choose a minimalistic lifestyle? Is it respectable or annoying?

Hello! First new post on Her Charisma is a beauty haul! I haven’t done one of these in forever so im excited to show you all my new goodies!
Sonia Kashuk Limited Edition Brushes: Words can’t even express how excited I was to walk into Target and find these brushes. They have been all over YouTube and I have been dying to get my hands on them. They are LITERALLY sold out everywhere in LA, so I had to snag them while I was in the bay this weekend (it was my 23rd bday, post on that lata!). So far I haven’t used them but I’m looking forward to the powder brush and the contour brush because those are two critical brushes I don’t have.
Bite Lip Exfoliate: I wrote a post a while back about how I was looking for a lip exfoliate. I’m an advent lipstick wearer so I have to do a little extra to make sure they stay moisturized and my lipstick looks smooth! I used to use fresh lip scrub but it is really gritty, so I’m hoping that the Bite brand is a little smoother.
Makeup Forever Blush Shade 410: There is nothing I love more than rosy cheeks. It’s hard to find makeup that lasts and doesn’t just melt off your face in all this hot LA weather so when I heard that Makeup forever is an all water resistant brand, I was really excited. I’ve been wanting a cream blush (powder usually just fly’s off my face), and I wanted a rich rosy color. Pictures coming soon!
Beauty Blender: This has also been one of those makeup must haves that has been all over the blogosphere. I think this would be great for blending my liquid makeup, like my concealer. Sometimes it’s a little difficult to do with a brush.
You might also notice my lovely Lilly Pulitzer Jumbo Agenda! Let me tell you this item was not easy to find. I swear this blog post should have been titled “sold out things”, because everything on this haul was difficult to find. Apparently these little cuties came out in July and obviously I missed the memo because they were sold out everywhere. I didn’t even get the print that I wanted so I figured the elephants were a cute substitution!
Welp that’s it for this little haul! Hope you enjoyed! BTW this is my first time ” staging” a blog photo. What do you think? Took me forever to get it right!
