This Pretty Thrifty segment is all about lip scrub! For those of you just tuning in this segment is all about experimenting with certain beauty products, comparing one high end item vs the drugstore version of the same item. See my previous Pretty Thrifty segment here!

My favorite kind of lipstick is matte; which as we all know is really drying on the lips. So I’ve been using lip scrub/exfoliate to help get rid of all the dead skin so that my lipstick applies nice and smooth with minimal pilling.

When I first started blogging I had no clue what to talk about besides fashion, beauty was completely unchartered territory. I watched countless Youtube videos( and still do), spent hours on Temptalia trying to compare products and then of course my ongoing battle with drugstore products vs designer brands. (It’s a daily struggle). Now I don’t even have to bother because these amazing beauty boxes are sent straight to my doorstep with awesome goodies tailored to my needs. I’ve rounded up a list of some beauty boxes I’ve been reading up on!

Ever read those posts that say “What to wear when its way to hot out”, and as your reading its 90 degrees outside, your hair is a mess, and you want to keel over from heat exhaustion? Suddenly that post looks pretty gosh darn appealing, doesn’t it? As a new blogger it took me a long time to figure out what made blog posts so interesting. Why does someone want to click on my page? When they are on my page how do I lure them in so that they actually want to read past the first line? I’m still figuring some of that out but here is what I’ve learned thus far.

Between blogging, my actual 9-5, my 2 hour commute and my boyfriend, the days always seem endless. Come Friday I’m ready to just keel over and fall asleep. No phone, no TV, just me and my bed. But we all know the key to being a successful blogger is consistency, so as much as my bed calls my name…I must resist.

In a perfect world I would totally practice the 80/20 rule, be the master of social media, and blogging would be my full time job, but since that isn’t quiteee the case, I’ve had to learn how to balance my actual money maker and my site.

I have this thinggg where I’m weird about asking people to take my photo. I know “selfie” was like the most used word this year but there is something just weird about snapping a whole bunch of photos by myself; or even worse trying to pose and take some awesome blogger photo for my OOTD. When I see other bloggers do it; it looks like perfection but I just can’t seem to get it right. So I’ve managed to conjure up a few tricks to still make selfless photos work.
